![]() They are split between 1st Degree Murder, and Voluntary Manslaughter, and as the discussions (see: arguments) continue there is a group that starts to push for 2nd Degree Murder, the halfway point between the two convictions. If you recall the actual events of the trial than this is no spoiler: the jury has a very difficult time coming to a consensus. They are drawn in the broadest of strokes there’s the misogynist angry guy who pushes for first degree murder, there’s the progressive woman with the short haircut who has a bleeding heart for the boys, and so on and so forth. When we last left last week the jury had just been excused to deliberate a verdict, and for about the first half of the hour we see them attempt to come to a consensus on the murders. It wasn’t bad necessarily, but a lot happened in the hour with very little plot or character work to hold it all together and really make it above par television. After last week’s very focused episode of Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, in which Erik and Lyle Menendez took the witness stand and painfully recounted their troubled upbringing and sexual abuse by both their parents, this week’s episode seemed to fall apart at the seams. ![]()
